The adventures. The experience was a lot though didn't have much power to film everything. A small clip on arrival. Mauritania is a beautiful country. Lots of social economic issues, but the crew and I were able to see somethings and meet a few people while there. I hope to get back and venture more inland to a few other places. It was quite rough traveling, the car broke down in the desert and we were all stranded for hours. The night fell, the stars came out, there was a lot of drama getting to Nouakchott but looking back it was an adventure for sure.

Other major streets are named (in French) for notable Mauritanian figures, or international personages of the 1960s: Avenue de Gaulle, Avenue Kennedy, and Avenue Lumumba, for example. Nouakchott is a vital city to Mauritania because of imports and exports, particularly of certain minerals and crops.

A third of the population of Mauritania lives, directly or indirectly, from artisanal fisheries. Bamba Fall, a unionist fisherman, invites us into the hectic activity of the port of Nouakchott: the tragic stories in the sea of old fishermen, the hard work of fishing gear from blacksmithing, imaginatively recycled materials, the sale of fish by bold women, the education of children by the hand of Imam of the mosque... A world in which the dangerous art of fishing exists thanks to the solidarity of those who share it. After several years of travelling we decided to get ourselves a car and drive with it to as many countries as possible for us in Africa! Welcome everyone to our fourth vlog that covers our trip from Morocco's Western Sahara to Mauritania, so yup! It's only desert! Hope you enjoy! ---------------------------------------- Songs: Joss Stone ft. Future Stars https://youtu.be/T4RaqLa-LJo Joss Stone ft. Bil Aka Kora https://youtu.be/2jd6_WrpafA ---------------------------------------- After Marocco we crossed the border to Mauritania, the border itself on both sides were chaotic. There were police posts and customs everywhere, as well as a lot of regular people just wanting to get money of you one way or another; like pretending to be parking lot security for the 2 minutes you were getting yourself stamped out off Marocco. With a bit of negotiating and threatening to call Martins father who we are pretending is an ambassador of the Dutch Embassy in whatever country they’ll let you drive off without paying and a mad face. Afterwards we drove off to Mauritania, but first had to cross nobody’s land; which was around 1 km of rugged terrain and used to be a minefield(so we’ve heard). The asphalt just stopped and off you went to find your own way. At the Mauritanian border plenty of regular people again want to help you in exchange for money. Luckily we did our research and we already bought our 30 day visa in Rabat to avoid getting overcharged at the border for only a 7 day transit visa. For every stamp and every paper the officials asked money as well, but because we entered every post saying Asalahumalaikum and we used a lot of ‘Bismillah’ ‘ Inshaallah’ ‘Alhamdullilah’ , most officials were happy we grew up muslim and let us go without having to pay. As for Mauritania itself: people are driving worse then Iranians and Moroccans together, although we cannot blame them for only a few of them actually still have their side mirrors. It was complete chaos and stress in Nouakchott while we felt the rest of the west side of the country was extremely hot and only dessert, it’s a beautiful sight how the wind blows sand over the asphalt or how half of the road is covered in sand, but the dessert becomes boring after a while, we are surprised how people actually manage to live in the dessert. The road from the border to Nouakchott was pretty good, whilst the road from Nouakchott to the border of Senegal was terrible(although we later find out it can be worse).
